Anyone know for sure if the P seats are released for selection on NWA.com 24 hours prior to the flight, or will I need to inquire/go on standby once I am at my layover prior to departure?

I have a TIGHT layover at DTW going to EVV. NW754 is scheduled for arrival at 4:17pm and NW5803 is scheduled for departure at 4:50pm, and I need to get from concourse A over to B or C in about 5 to 10 minutes to catch NW5803. It would be nice to be as close as possible to the exit on NW754 when I arrive so I can get off as fast as possible, hence being able to get one of the P seats.

I have also been told that if I ask the FA that I have a tight layover, they may let me deplane after first class is off. Any truth to that?
