That is what I am now doing. I just call ahead and speak to an agent or ask at the RCC about how the loads look.
First, I totally agree on the talking to a person. The system has gotten so messed up that I always call.
Second, I'm confused about the story. How can they deny clearing you from an upgrade waitlist before the flight when there are so many F seats open? Did you never waitlist yourself because you figured that "not available" meant you weren't going to get it?
