Even if I just purchase regular gas, the $45 purchase works out to 108 BA miles.
My conclusions on the avion card is that one might be able to get better deals by keeping the points with RBC and leveraging to the best deal when you are ready to use them................buy direct,transfer to BA or AA are the choices. For an AC tier member flyer buying a ticket on AC or *A might get the best results as you will get U/G privileges(on AC) and status AE miles for the flight.
So 65,000 avion miles gets a trip to Europe on AC and while I'm not sure which class of service you get, they value the ticket at up to $1300. You can get an upgrade and get around 7300 status miles if used YYZ/LHR.
The 97K miles the 65K converts to with BA's fall promo does not quite get a J class seat and there are no BA miles.
I think the Q status miles wins the day in this scenario
