It depends on the length of the flight- A319 first class is nothing special, but better than coach, but not worth spending too much to obtain. I believe the A319's are newer than the 737's, and so while the seats may be the same, I liek the A319 much better. Not exactly sure about United, but Air Canada's A319 and A320 make the YUL-LAX trip quite nice.
