Hi All All of you are rewarded by various airlines for your loyalty to them with frequent flyer perks, you have earned these perks and in many cases count on them heavily, right??? Well these same airlines are throwing mud in the faces of some of the most loyal of their family, thier retirees. United and US Airways both CHOSE to dump their pension plans in their bankruptcy in order to become profitable. These retirees cannot just go back to work, many are very old or disabled. Now Delta and Northwest have filed bankruptcy and are faced with that same choice. Delta has already stopped paying part of their retired pilots pensions. We the passengers, the public as a whole end up with the bill. There is a federal program that insures these pensions, at about 2 cents on the dollar. That agency is on the brink of failure because of these companies dumping thier defined benefit pensions on it. That equals out to higher taxes for all of us! As well as thousands of our senior citizens on medicare and living in poverty through no fault of their own. We can band together and let United and US Airways know how we feel about the way they repay loyalty, through email, comment cards and just stop flying them. In addition we can let Northwest and Delta know we will boycott them if they leave their loyal retiree's out in the cold. Theire are measures in Congress now that would give companies an opportunity to fund these pensions over 200 years instead of 5 and that would help too, so let your elected officials in D.C. know to get that passed and DON'T FORGET TO LET THE AIRLINES KNOW TOO!!!!!
