Be glad they had a cable. If they hand't you'd have just been kicking yourself for being unprepared. $5 isn't bad for a cable when you want it where you want it with no trip to the store. I've seen hotels charge a LOT more. I'd be willing to bet that the hotel paid $2 or so for the cable, by the way.
