Why did you not contact Essex House during the stay? @:-)

It sounds like you got the room that you paid for - perhaps there were no upgrades available. Some hotels do attempt to go ahead and block in an upgraded room prior to your arrival - but if something changes before you check in, you don't have a right to insist on that pre-upgraded room that you thought that you were going to get.

I stayed at the St Regis Essex House last night and despite my request in the online booking for an upgrade/park view (from a $559 City View room) and a copy of the reservation which showed I'd been upgraded to a Astor Suite, I ended up with a low floor room with a city view of the wall of the next building's wall.

Also:

My luggage was lost on an incoming AA flight and I was not told that it had arrived at the hotel - despite advising Reception on check in to let me know if/when it arrived. I called the Bell Captain to say AA said it should be on its way but was told it was waiting for me.
not delivered to room from AA

The toilet was faulty with water running through continously.

There was no SPG Diamond welcome gift or amenity offered

No water in room was provided in the room, no newspaper was provided, and no breakfat vouchers were forthcoming.

I did get as late checkout to 4pm but had to pay for internet access twice as the daily cutoff point was the nornal noon checkout time. A bit anoying as I did not get to the hotel until 2am.

Should I contact SPG/Essex house about these issues?

Thanks,
