Actually, no. It is from the Business section in today's Vancouver Sun (not a tabloid rag the like the Sun in Alberta or Toronto). With quotes from Kate Forrester of YVR and Air Tahiti Nui rep Guy Champoux: "If security gets any tighter we're afraid it will be almost impossible to transit the aircraft through the US. So as a back up plan the airline would use Vancouver". They are currently sudying costs. YVR has the advantage of being almost exactly mid-point of Tahiti-Paris, allowing just 2 pilots instead of 3
