Well, I have to confess that in 1996 or so, this happened to me as well when I double-booked a reservation at the no-longer-Marriott Berkeley Marina. Because it was a reservation error, I got the no-show charge adjusted _and_ I got to keep the points
A decade is a long time, however, and Marriott's systems are more sophisticated. The last no-show charges I incurred followed the T&Cs and no points or credit was given.
