Hi Holland,

In your situation, where the airline clearly had no liability, they aren't required to do anything except get you there as soon as possible. And since you were there the rest of the week, its not likely that you would get a full refund even if it was their fault. However, if you took the time to write to their consumer affairs dept, you would likely receive some sort of compensation, like an upgrade or a voucher for your inconvenience.

Also, if the flights are cancelled or rescheduled causing a significant change in your itinerary, and you choose not to fly, you should be entitled to a full refund whether you'll miss a business meeting, or the season finale of Survivor. If you choose to fly anyway and chance it..then their response is likely to depend on how much buffer time you gave yourself before the event, and how much of your trip was affected by the delay.
