Something tells me the minute weather enters into it (snow on the runways, etc.), that refund office is going to get pretty tight with the purse strings.

Also, you still went (that is, they still provided the service of taking you to your destination), albeit late. I could see it being a different story if you said, "Well, I can't get there in time for my meeting, there's no point, so I'm going home," and not using the ticket.
