My thoughts exactly. Find some other cheap place to fly into in Europe and take the train. Though (usually) there aren't all that many places in Europe which are cheaper to fly into than FRA (Frankfurt) because there's lots of competition around.
In this case, I would for once recommend booking WAY early. BTW, have you scored tickets for the matches yet? It looks like it will be a real pain in the @$$ to get them.
