It is true apparently to use the F side of the lounge you should be on a OW flight (as I found to my cost the first time I tried to use the "Open Doors" policy when starting a trip to LIN to pick up an ex Italy trip). You should get access to the business side though with guest as part of the policy. I suspect that there will be confusion in the JSA lounges, since I assume QF will have different policies and it is possible that the lounge staff are more attuned to the QF approach. I have never tried this in BKK but I did get into the F lounge in SIN, when my AY flight was cancelled and I had to fly LX.

I would not rate the SIN F lounge above the BKK one on anything but space, the food selection was not as good IMHO, and the drink selection wasn't particularly outstanding. It was however very large in comparison to the BKK F lounge, which has a more intimate feeling. I also prefer the bathrooms at BKK.
