I have to be in Minneapolis for the 14th of November. Looking at staying for a week. I will be flying in economy as this is standard for our long haul trips.

Anyway, I have looked at various options and timings etc via the various online booking sites.

The thing is that if I fly BA I will earn upto 4000 BA Air Miles but I have to take three flights. If I fly with KLM and UA via AMS then I just take two flights but no miles.

So is it worth paying that little bit more (technically its not me paying), fly with BA, get access to the lounge (I am BA Silver) and hope ...nah prey...that I might just be one of the very very lucky ones and get one of those things that start with "U". I know I will not get any Tier points but I cant everything that I want.


Also I know that if I fly BA I will have access to the lounge at GLA and LHR but what about ORD and MSP? Will my BA Silver status actually be worth anything at all? I like a bit of comfort after flying all these UK routes (and a few DUB) to gain my Silver status.

Anyway, looking at booking within the next 24hrs, also looking at flying on the 13th and return 20th as prices are good and will get me some free time to do some xmas shopping (not my idea but I have a list from the wife)
