Wouldn't that be because they have ( an almost monopoly)? In fact Parnel, they have cancelled their NGO routes again, lowered capacity to KIX and gone back to a 763 on the NRT/YVR routes
I was just told today it's because they cannot make money on those routes in the winter when virtually no Japanese tourists are coming to Canada.
. It is because they have absolutely no marketing presence at all in Japan.......no web presence, no cell based presence ,no newspaper/ magazine ads etc.
maybe they've done their homework and know where the best bang for their ad money is and it obviously isn't Japan in spite of you living there.
They have taken over very big money making routes and done nothing with them. It's not hard to fill a plane in the summer with package tourists to Canada Parnel.
That's when they fly the route...good route management it seems.
They have very little leeway in pricing because they leave it up to the travel agencies(JTB etc.) to sell them.
The Asian carriers built that consolidator market long ago and AC is captive to it.
No presence in the market , thus get scraps which are given them from the integrated tour companies ! And you know what Parnel that last quote was from your minder at AC!!!!

Japan is a long way from McMansion land were you live Parnel, and what you know about this market here is "nada"!
Yep my minder called me five minutes ago and put the muzzle on me in case I answer by suggesting you are nuts. I get around AC's network pretty good and think I have an idea about thwir overseas marketing.
