Pre-9/11 I have used my aviation GPS on board AA. Now, not so much. They really don't want passengers to know thier exact location for 'security' reasons. I bet if you asked the captain, that is if you can get access before departure, they might let you. However, YMMV, depending on rules that I may be unaware of.
