While O/T, the above reminds me of a Westin I stayed at with my partner. There was a convention / gathering of a conservative Jewish group at the hotel. When we wanted to use the Jacuzzi, the group had taken over the fitness area including pool area and set rules. Men were allowed in the excersize area, women only in the pool area (it was against their beliefs for men, including gay men, to see the women in the pool, we were told; and yes, they were wearing bathing suits).

This male / female division was being enforced by the guests from this group and they would not let us in the pool. After speaking with the (mis)management at the hotel, we finally were able to get to the pool area, only to find the Jacuzzi broken with flip flops and some other gross stuff floating in it. The Jacuzzi / Hot Tub was one of the reasons I picked this property, combined with the fact it was a full service hotel.

Add in several service failures to the above (i.e. a $50 self serve dinner - waiter just disappeared) and it made for an interesting self-service weekend at a full service hotel. We still had a good time & made the best of it. In the end, the stay was on the house after a short talk with the general manager.
