You want to stay in the Tokyo station area for about 10,000yen on Friday night...

APA hotel in Nihonbashi? It's just opened, so should be OK.

Location is pretty good. It's on the Yaesu side of Tokyo station - good access to izakaya type drinking holes and also some more high end dining in the Corredo shopping/dining complex.

From there it's a 20 minute walk (or short taxi ride) up Eitai Dori to the Palace Hotel. It's directly above Nihonbashi subway station - providing easy access to Ginza or other nightlife areas.

Rakuten Travel (Japanese site) is showing a rate of 10,000 yen for a double room (no-smoking room available) Nov 4th. (See link below).

However, I can't find this rate on any English-language site. So - maybe you can get this rate by calling the hotel (or fax them a copy of the rakuten travel page):

FAX 03-3278-2711

You can make your train reservations when you arrive at Tokyo station.

There are direct trains from Tokyo station to Shimoda (Odorikko). The direct trains turn out to be slower than taking a Shinkansen as far as Atami and changing to the Itokyu line there... but it can be nice to not have to change.

For a Ryokan in Shimoda, Rakuten Travel English language site is showing just one Ryokan....:
www.mytrip.net/en

On the other hand, the Japanese site, shows dozens:

And then there's this place near Kanawa, which is somewhat further North on the Izu peninsular - looks good:

I suggest you proceed by just calling the hotel and seeing if they can deal with you in English. (If not then move to the next one in the list).
