Authentic Mexican Traditions and Ingredients Meet San Francisco Cuisine
Executive Chef/Owner: 27 year-old Sam Josi (most recently sous chef at the Slanted Door, internships at Betelnut, rnm & Citizen Cake). Along with his work in various kitchens, Josi was formerly a Financial Officer of his family owned Oak Hill Farm, an organic produce farm based in Sonoma. At Mamacita, Josi will use produce from Oak Hill Farm, which in addition to providing produce to many of San Francisco’s fine restaurants, also supplies produce for the San Francisco Ferry Building.
Concept: To offer a classic city restaurant and lounge with the timeless atmosphere and food of an out-of-the way beach front Mexican cantina preparing its fresh regional cuisine and libations with the utmost care for its local community.
Menu: “Authentic Mexican traditions and ingredients meet San Francisco cuisine.”
Mamacita’s menu will embrace both Mexican tradition and San Franciscan sophistication to offer a creative, yet classic cuisine that promotes a healthy and bustling restaurant and bar. Dishes will marry the authentic regional food of Mexico with the fundamentals of the slow food movement that is California cuisine, using thoughtful preparation and fresh, top quality, local ingredients.

Design:
Tim Murphy (architect of Frisson and SupperClub) offers thatched ceiling elements which provide for intimate dining at the candle lit stitched fabric leather banquette and wood tables below. Hanging traditional tin and glass lamps are arranged in an innovative way to emit soft and rich lighting. A large mirror with an abstracted mural screened over the mirror creates a sublime visual above the distressed tin bar front and light fixtures.
