There's no doubt that the cooperation between SAS and the Radisson SAS hotels is not what it used to be.

Before I always expected to get upgraded to a business class room with EBG, but the rule is clear: You get upgraded to the next class of room, so if you are only one person, they will assign you a single room and upgrade you to a double room. Like most of you, I always stay alone in my room on a business trip.

The experience is that most Radisson SAS hotels only upgrade you to a double room or a better double room, “superior” aka different curtains, if you have booked a double room.

I stay many nights at these hotels, and also have a Rzgp Gold points gold card. My conclusion is that Radisson SASs own program just doesn't work!

The member hotels have no knowledge about the program and treats their gold members like crap. There are 4 good things about the program: 1 free express laundry for each night, a nice fruitbasket, mineral water, a note from the manager, discounts and the weekend extend program.

The problem is that almost none of the hotels know about these perks. I always have to discuss my bill because it always contains express laundry and never has discounts. The welcome fruit/mineralwater/greeting in the room only works at two hotels, one of them is Radisson SAS BOO. Why does it work in Bodø? Because I stay there a lot and they eventually learned.

When it comes to business class upgrades, here's my record for the last 6 months:

Radisson SAS BOO: Every time
Radisson SAS TOS: They know me there, but they only have a few business class rooms, upgrade score 50/50
Radisson SAS TRD: Checked in, got a tiny room. Called the reception, they immediately upgraded me to a mini suite
Radisson SAS AES: Got a tiny room facing the street. After calling the reception a business class room was arranged
Radisson SAS OSL Airport: What a great place! Always get business class
Radisson SAS Sky City: I think we all got the same room at the DO, no business class
Radisson SAS Royal Viking: Got a tiny room the first night, but they upgraded me the next two nights to a business class room
Radisson SAS Arlandia: Got a tiny single bed room in the basement after the Eurobonus meeting last week. Called the reception, got a room across the hall with two beds. Very helpful
Radisson SAS Portman London: Don't get me started...

All in all, EBG is as good as the RZGP Gold Card, except the 4 things I listed up earlier. If you have to pick one, I recommend the EBG. If you stay enough, get the RZGP, gives you a clean shirt every day, but you have to argue to get it off the bill

And the thing I hate the most is asking for things I have earned. Shouldn’t be like that. Radisson SAS has a lot to learn from the Starwood preferred guest program. I feel like a king when checking in, because they are trained to treat their best customers with respect and go the extra mile to please them.
