My experience with Radisson SAS is very mixed. Some hotels are only superb and I would not stay at other hotels. I do however have some not so nice experience, although very very few I have to admit.
What annoys me is the sometimes total lack of recognition of my EBG card and the benefits I am supposed to have. The strategy of jacob_m in situations like these does however seem to be a very appropriate and wise one.
Radisson SAS or Radisson hotels are however not the obvious first choice for me as they might have been. There are several reasons for this. The apparent lack of EBG recognition is an important one and the location another one. I do for instance not have the same experience (success-rate) when staying at the Radisson SAS at OSL as Holmion do, so I do not stay there very often. Last weekend I traveled ULN-PEK-CPH-OSL on Saturday before continuing OSL-CPH-IAD on Sunday. The Radisson SAS hotel at OSL was a very tempting option, and I even had a reservation, but I ended up canceling and going home in stead.
Whether the hotel upgrades me or not is what quite often makes the difference between staying at these hotels or not. If I had been given the same service by the hotel at OSL as one of my favorite hotels, Hotel Norge in Bergen, then I would simply have stayed the night at the airport (and be very forgiving if I were not upgraded).
The Radisson SAS Hotel Norge in Bergen is without doubt one my favorite hotels. The service is simply excellent.. The business class rooms are very nice, the location superb, and I really enjoy relaxing at "Helsero" (exercise room, a small swimming-pool and sauna etc. in the basement) after a long day at work. Hmm. I think I have to contact my colleagues in Bergen and visit them soon
To conclude and this might be something for tommy777 and the others in EB contact group to consider for future meetings with EB. If Radisson SAS and the Radisson hotels had been better at recognizing the EBG card and the benefits we are supposed to have, then I (I do not know about you) would probably have been staying at these hotels more often than I do now. Today I tend to be very selective. If a hotel does not recognize my EBG card (repeatedly) then I tend not to return. If however I get such superb service as at Hotel Norge I do go back again and again.
