I also wanted to spend a week in Tokyo or Honolulu either on the way over or on the way back. I am using Delta miles to get the tickets. Can anyone give me any hints/suggestions or advice on this trip? What can I expect for BC? I have not been on a Cont. airplane in 20 years.
Thanks, Lisa

I'd recommend the Tokyo routing over the Honolulu one for both. The Tokyo service relies on the new 777 fleet equipped with the new BusinessFirst (BF) seat which is the best seat available on NW/DL/CO right now between the U.S. and the Pacific. CO service to HNL is on a somewhat smaller 767 with a much smaller BF cabin and their older BF seat. You'll find more reward inventory to NRT than you will to HNL ...and the HNL-GUM flights are always packed.

When I head to Pacific destinations, I usually fly into NRT and connect from there. (With one trip to Hawaii last year, I even flew in from NRT/GUM because the fares were significantly less than the HNL/OGG flights and allowed me to visit Tokyo/Guam in the process.)
