Our travels are all personally financed -- not one mile of my PE status came was paid for by anyone else. We would much rather fly 2-3 trips in coach than 1 trip in WBC if we're buying the tickets.
If business class is worthless to you, then I would argue that the only FF program that makes sense is the cheap ba****d program (something I've serious considered on several occassions.

What do I define as the CBP?

Pretty much, be willing to flex your schedule for the cheapest price. Consider anything over $15 to be enough to make you move your schedule and fly with the carrier that has the lowest price.

Bottom line, if you're going to fly in coach, I can't see any reason to have any loyalty to any airline. It's all about price. The cash money you save is going to get you on another flight faster than any miles or such silly things.

I'll admit that every time I fly to Europe or Asia in coach, I hate it. I am absolutely miserable at the end of 12 hours crammed in an airplane. So yes, my personal objective is to spend as little time in back as possible. And the more I find that I am travelling internationally instead of domestically, the less attractive NW is as a program.
