I mean, a Eur-based Gold that scrapes together 800 points cannot be compared to one that racks up 5000+ TP's a year.
Having got up to 2800 TP's in 6 months, I don't see much point in getting past 3500 TP's to get the 2nd GU. Not if I can put some of the remainder of my travel into another FF scheme. This seems a bit odd to me.
I thought EU based memberships had only one GUF2 at a lower level than the first for UK/US members?
In any case, having hit nearly 4000 TP's in my last EC year and finding it hard to spend the two GUF2's I earned, I agree with you except that I don't see any point in getting any further past the gold requalification level itself - e.g. 1500 for UK members in BA EC. I probably have 5 or 6 months before I need to figure out what I want to do instead, but I'm tempted by the lifetime schemes available to AA/QF members.
