I have EC2's, and quite honestly they are very good.
I did have some Phillips SOund cancelling over ears - but they were to bulky to carry & they only eliminate a bit of engine noise.
The in ear jobs eliminate the Crying Babys, engine noise and they don't get broken in your bag

Sound Isolating vs Sound Cancelling..... I'd choose isolating if you can put up with the in ear ones.
