Several times I have wanted outbound A and return C and end up having to call to get it through, because while A shows up in "price" and C shows up in "price+schedule" I can't find an online way to make A/C appear together.
I agree that things are improving, but again, if NW offered a credit for when THEIR end doesn't hold up, it would feel a lot more fair.

that is true, but it sometimes gives you good alternatives or ideas, I always use all options and see what I get. Another great thing is using the multi-stop search, you can often get nice pricing from BOS to Europe via MSP (extra miles

, o.k. DC-10 is the downside

) which will turn up with a 1k higher fare if you use 'search by schedule' option. Looking up fare class availabilities first and then trying to combine the flights with either of the options has always worked for me (so far). I agree it could be better, but the award booking engine is pretty neat, you can pre-select different airlines and search std. awards only; the AF/KL award booking engine sucks.
