Door Closes, FA Tries to Fill Exit Row Middles???
I was on a transcon a few days ago, and being a few thousand miles from EXP I'm stuck in back but at least in an exit row on a 757. As nearly all transcons seem to be these days, the plane is near capacity. Two yahoos who just have to discuss their powerpoint slides for hours sit in my row, and I'm SOL on the empty middle. I see the other three exit rows all have empty middles and reflect on my bad luck. Every other middle seat on the plane is occupied, and the door is closed.
Then, an FA stops at about row 16 and I see a guy there get up and move over and fill one of the empty middle exit seats. The looks and body language from the two who thought they had an empty seat between them clearly weren't positive - understandably. When the PAX gets situated, the FA walks by my row and slowly back saying "We have two more empty middle seats in exit rows, there's a lot more room there, anyone want to move?" Now, I was already out of luck but I thought that just STUNK for the others. I've seen plenty of GAs fill these seats on request in the terminal, but an FA on board trying to fill them for no good reason was out of line in my book.
