There was another thread about this earlier. I have only had onetime where I had two reservations with Starwood. Luckly for me I have two things going for me:

1) I get plat regardless of my stays
2) I have already earned plat with stays and nights this year.

And because the second reservation was an award night, I never had Starwood take anything away from me. Like others, I was in a large city for work and wanted to visit another part of the country. Seeing that it was only two hours away, I booked a flight and an award hotel night. I didnt want to pack my bags for a quick jaunt. .

If I were going to have TWO paid nights, I would do one at another chain.
