Have you any inside information (may be you are from the CIA?) enabling you to say it was an overreaction. What is the terrorist alert state now around the world in general, and in France in particular?
You would be pointing the finger at authorities (by the way the type of measure taken is not decided by AF, but by police/intelligence services) if light measures were taken and a disaster occurred.
Furthermore I am not very pleased to see somebody living in the US criticising measures taken about terrorism, when the recent surge in terrorism is due (and this is acknowledged by official US reports) to the war in Iraq and the corresponding resentment in the Middle East.

As of September, and compared to the previous year, the number of passengers carried by the AFKL group has raised by 6.3%, and the revenue passenger.kilometres by 7.8%.
