In all honesty, I don't use any other services that Ameniti offer and my sole reason for signing up for such offer at the time (back in June) was that 1) I was going to SIN from the east cost and 2) I was expecting at least another SIN or ICN trip in the winter (in H or higher). I backed out of getting H fare to LHR in November because I didn't want to pay significant extra for this double mile (and that I was already finished "25000 mile cap"). I was going to cancel my membership but when I realized that cheapest fare to ICN this December (for the dates I need to be there) was in M or B class fare, I thought I would buy the ticket through Ameniti (but I also wanted to be clear that I will be getting those double miles). All in all, I think Ameniti is backing out in their double miles promotion (by informing the customers on that promotion that miles are capped at 25000 miles regardless of fare class) after realizing that customers CAN get significant amount of extra bonus mileage (after 25000 mile limit), which may seem unfair for those who had signed up for 25,000 bonus mile when signing up for 1 year. But regardless of fairness and what Ameniti thinks, I think WE (those who are under the double miles promotion) are entiteld to them when we meet the terms and conditions that were provided to us at the time of sign up.
To answer some questions mentioned earlier, I do think you have to book with Ameniti to be eligible for double miles, but someone who has done other ways (independent purchase via
www.united.com or travel agent) can enlighten me of their methods. Double mile offer was offered to some people who bought tickets on
www.united.com in June and July, I think and was not offered afterwards.
Lynn D was also the person who had initially notified me of the double mileage postings (after many phone calls inquiring about where my double mile was... I flew on the 20th of June and my miles posted on the 10th of October).
