>>>what should my gameplan be?

I wouldn't call every day. I would use this website to calculate exactly ninety-ONE days before your day of travel: http://www.timeanddate.com/date/dateadd.html

...and at about 9pm or 10pm (central standard time--calculate it relative to your time zone) 91 days prior keep pulling up your itinerary at www.nwa.com until seats are bookable or have been automatically been assigned. There is no sense bothering the reservation agents, since they will not have any other availability than what you see at www.nwa.com.

Late evening 91 days prior is when they will be bookable, and this is when automated preferences will automatically pop people in to non-bulkhead, non-exit-row seats. At that point you can go to www.nwa.com and change your automatically assigned seats to the best available seats on the plane.

The one problem I have had hawking the automatic seats assignments, in the past, is to find the best bulkhead seats sometimes be blocked late evening 91 days prior--these apparently-taken seats were actually phantom bookings that then opened up the next day or so. I think this has changed. Lately I've been able to snag the bulkhead seats immediately after the automated system assigns me my "requested" choice (the row or two behind bulkhead) 91 days (late evening) prior. You just log in 91 days late evening prior, switch over to the better seat, and the change goes through.
