For some reason I used to think that gays and lesbians were a bit more worldly when they travel. Hasn't anyone else ever been to Bourbon Street or Amsterdam? My Aunt Jane might find Patong "sleazy", but I sure as hell don't. Pattaya - probably; Patpong - perhaps; Patong - unh uh. At times Patong can be raucous, noisy and a bit too touristy, but I wouldn't want it any other way.

That said, staying in the middle of Patong may not be the best idea for those who are early to bed, early to rise types.
