Perhaps you could also try *A award availability on SQ 345 (ZRH-SIN) by starting your trip from Zurich ? You could get a cheap connecting flight from Germany to ZRH.

For your friend: SQ are offering discounted J tickets for CHF 6000 + tax. (ca. € 3900) to AKL.

I have started quite a few trips from ZRH to AUS / NZ as it was usually quite a lot cheaper than from Germany.
