Earlier this year I tried to check in 3.5 hours before my flight and was told they couldn't accept my baggage more than 3 hours prior to the flight.
The agent gave me my boarding pass and tagged my bags but asked me to hold on to them for the next half hour.
She said at the appointed time I could drop them at the fast drop desk.
