Thanks for the link to the ad. I thought that the ad's humor points relied solely on a series of stereotypical comments by the narrator about discount airlines. The moderator spoke in his deep tone, reading a series of cutting statements (for a full minute) about the pilots, the airlines, the customers, the routes, safety, etc. There was no sense of relief in the ad message, just a constantly cynical (oh, was that "funny") view of things and then, hey!--crack a beer!

If this is a good ad, would it have been just as good to have called it "bankrupt airline pilot guy" or "union airline pilot guy" or just "airline pilot guy" or "airbus pilot airline guy" ?? yuk-yuk?

The Wall Street Journal had an article on this yesterday (10-24). The ad was apparently pulled after the first day of airing, with strong apologies from the beer maker.
