Well, yes, this is my first message to the board and before asking my question I´d like first of all say how great this forum is.

I must admit that I somehow got addicted to collecting air miles and I have always envied those how could afford to fly in business class or even F. Well, now after years of collecting miles I am now on 160k and can fly business class to New Zealand. Boy, I am looking forward to visit this country and also looking forward to flying C even if it is such a long, long flight. And whilst I am now pondering with my friend the best way or flight to spend the miles on, last night I came across this forum and loved it from the first minute. It makes great reading and going through all those threads I almost forgot to go to bed and only realised how late it had got when I looked at the clock at 3.15am. So thank you guys for this great and informative forum.

Now, what is my question for you guys:

My friend and I want to go from FRA to AKL on March 23. As my friend has to pay for the flight he looked up a relatively cheap fare of less than € 4k for C. Whilst this is a good price indeed the flight options are -of course- limited and he can only choose between 2 flights that night:

SQ at 22.20 (LH9764) and LH776 at 22.35.

He wanted to go for SQ due to the better service and comfort but when I called the Miles & More hotline today they said that there were no seats left for M&M customers on the SQ flight. I must say, I was pretty disappointed, especially given the fact that even a day earlier or later the result was the same: no seats left.

Ok, so this means only the LH776 is still an option but now I wonder if this machine will already have the new business class. I wonder because so many users here have reported quite negatively about the "old" LH business class (is it really that bad?). I searched the LH website and found a PDF that said about my flight and the new business class:


LH 776 / LH 777 Frankfurt - Singapur - Frankfurt till 29.10.2005

with the column "till 29.10.2005" headed "available from - till".

What do they mean when they say "new business class available TILL 29 Oct? Do they have the new business class already in place on LH776? What will happen after Oct 29? The date seems odd to me but hey, who am I, I am only a newcomer to that style of travelling.

So, can you help me?

It is a shame that I cannot book SQ but at least I hope to get the new C in March 2006.
