On Wednesday, October 19, 2005, my wife, our four year old daughter and I traveled from LAS to IAD via LAX. Our itinerary was IAD-DEN-SLC (on United), SLC-LAS (on Southwest), LAS-LAX-IAD (on United). For some reason, I can only guess due to the United open jaw, my wife received a boarding pass with “SSSS”. Unfor-tunately, no one noticed.
I had a similar, but weirder experience at LAS.
I was flying HP. At check-in the lady asked me if I wanted to buy a first class upgrade; I replied "can I get it for free ?" (I was Silver at that time) and she proceeded marking my boarding card SSSS, using a blue pen. She said the computer had randomly chosen me. At the security line nobody noticed that. I went on to embarking and no one noticed either. So I completely skipped the checks and I flew no question asked. It might have been some kind of joke on the check in lady part, but that would be a very strange joke indeed. Guess it is just how Vegas is...
