Last night my neighbour told us he has received a speeding ticket through the post. The "offence" was committed at 2:30AM in Port Talbot in South Wales about 10 days ago. On that date in question his wife and son can confirm he was at home in bed. We live near to Bournemouth so it is not as if his family could be mistaken or someone just "popped out" in the car.
When he queried it he was told there was photographic evidence so he requested this. When the picture arrived it showed the correct type of car, dark colour and
his number plate
A cloned car perhaps? - anyone have any experience of this and how to successfully challenge it?
I drive from Cardiff to Swansea almost twice a week for work.
For most readers here who live in the Big Smoke in England and have yet to venture to the 3rd World, Port Talbot is in between Cardiff and Swansea (nearer to Swansea).
There is a section of the M4 where it is two lanes and permanently fixed at 50mph for around 3 miles. This is largely due to the exits of the M4 into Port Talbot being very small and short.
The cameras are the standard yellow fixed ones. Furthermore, anyone who drives the route often enough knows exactly where they are and they are very obvious with a 50pmh sign 200 yards in front of each one as well.
It certainly sounds to me as if it was a cloned car, maybe unfamiliar with the area.
