That happened to me once also. I was arguing, in a friendly way, about locked checked bags with the TA. After a while she gave up, looked at the INSPASS and said: Well, we just follow the rules, you guys make them!
One BP checker in DFW wasn't going to let me through because she couldn't find an expriation date on the INSPASS. I just told her there isn't any date and she finally let me pass through. Not before she had threatened with calling the police, though.
