There is a wide variation of opinion on the issue of potential decompression due to a bullet hole in the aircraft. It is not a certainty that decompression would result. Some pilots say that the outflow valve would close slightly to adjust. Others warn that a bullet could cause massive failure of the airplane, especially if the bullet hit critical control mechanisms.
