I then had to call up BA in europe to manually sign up for the promo, but had no problems with that and the bonus miles posted as promised.

Since I got three tickets, and BA allows household accounts, for the $1665 price I ended with:
3 WT+ tickets to LHR
AND
~120,000 miles, or more than enough for a business class ticket US-Europe, or 30,000 miles short of a first class ticket (which can easily be obtained with the credit card sign up bonuses, etc.).
