All of AS's fares are one way? I didn't know that. That is very interesting.
Many of AA's are Round Trips, but I'll have to check this time. I'd really like a generic solution, not a work-around this time. This comes up so often for me, and what I normally do is simply exclude the AS flights and choose AA flights. I can't this time, because AS is the one flying to WAS without acceptable alternatives.
From post #2, I am assuming you mean that I want to avoid codeshares, and select based on the underlying metal. I am fine with that.
If I buy the ticket on AA stock, can I then call AS and get the upgrade (assuming it is available) at ticket purchase time? I'm guessing not.
And if I buy it on AS stock, AA's computers will never do the automated upgrades, since they only look at AA tickets. Could I manually call AA at the 100 hour mark? I don't think so, as they won't do AS ticket stock there either.
Any additional suggestions other than splitting it into two one ways (which, when it works, is a PERFECT solution - it just doesn't always fit AA's sales style).
