The only thing procedural is the order in what comes off before the bags, such as mail. However as for the checked bags themselves, there isn't, but I can tell you how we do it. If there are any bags priority tags on it, we will keep those on, and most especially international bags and local bags (those just going one stop). After sorting those out, the bags that are easiest to get to are the ones to come off. Usually we are under time constraints so there is no way to double check who is Preferred vs Non-DM because often this is going within 5 or 10 minutes of departure.
Please keep in mind, not all stations may do this, but we do everything at our station so we are very aware of what we are pulling vs. keeping.
