And this is not exactly the story anyway, according to the official AA info on the subject :-

American's "First For Coach" Fares

September 29, 2005

Effective September 29, 2005, AA will offer two types of "First for Coach" (YUP) fares. YUP fare types are booked in A and YUPP fare types are booked in P.

(Or were you saying that the cheaper fares of this YUP fare family are now YUPP/P and not YUP/A [which the more expensive ones still are] ?)
