Actually, the equipment for LAX-HNL-LAX are generally on the 764, though the 767 (20 BF Seat Hawaii/Guam Configuration) does make an appearance a couple days a week.

The two flights a day from IAH and the EWR flight are on a combination of the 767 and 764 depending on the day of the week.

Bottom line, check the schedule to verify the equipment you will be flying. 764 notates the larger BF cabin and 767 indicates the smaller BF cabin.

The varying equipment to destinations is mostly due to cargo considerations and the ultimate destination for the equipment. Remember that Flight 1 is a "direct" flight from IAH-HNL-GUM and Flight 2 is the GUM-HNL-IAH. IIRC, there is often an equipment change in HNL so that cargo can be directed to the west coast, south and east coast.
