I think I might have cost myself some miles. I am booked from PDX to MEM through DTW. I noticed that the flights have the same number. From what I can tell, I will only be credited with one segment & the miles from PDX to MEM, costing me quite a few miles.

First of all, am I correct in my thinking?

Second, is there anything that I can do about it? I know I could standby for another flight, but would probably end up losing my good seat for the middle seat in the back row. I was hoping that I could standby for another one from just DTW to MEM, but there aren't any that go before my scheduled flight.

Am I just SOL?

When did you book this? When you book something with NWA, under the customer first policy you have until midnight(cst) the NEXT night to cancel with no penalty. Can you get it to price the same way now? If yes you can book a direct(non-stop) flight or at least get one with 2 different flight numbers.
