Make sure that you are legally allowed to possess a handgun in the jurisdiction of the airport. I'm pretty sure that they arrest people at LGA and JFK who show up with handguns (however they're packed) without valid NY permits.
I've heard that as well.. The state I'm going to honors my CCW, plus, even without that, they allow pistol ownership
