Your original post led me to speculate on the late arrivals and their impact. I am amazed how many people seem oblivious to the fact they are holding up 3-400 others - I know everyone on this forum doesn't act that way deliberately and with all the flying many of us do, minimising the nonsense and maximising the enjoyment is important.
I have had many times where someone was in transit in SIN and never made the plane, we had to wait whilst their bags were offoaded (so the bags are more reliable than they are). Or the guy who stood in the aerobridge talking on his cellphone, the FAs were too scared to tell him to get on the plane, yet everyone else was on - I got up and told him!
Maybe I am not the best person to have on the plane!
