I may be starting a barrage of similar threads, but family can be pretty bad too. Last Christmas, my parents, sister and I went to Hawaii for a 7 day trip. It went downhill pretty fast. Thank God I had enough Hilton points for 2 rooms at the HHV. On Day 2 (Christmas Eve), my sister bent over to pick something up and my parents noticed a tattoo her back. A huge row ensued. To get away from it, I went downstairs to the beach where interestingly enough, I overheard another mom and her daughter having the same argument.

So I got to play peacekeeper for the rest of the trip (including cajoling my sister to eat Christmas dinner with the family). Not to say that I didn't have issues of my own. My sister came straight from finals in medical school so all she wanted to do was veg out and watch TV. I like peace and quiet, so having the TV on during every waking hour drove me bonkers.

I then lost it with my parents when my mom called me two miles into an 8-mile run to make sure I was alright. She then kept me on the phone (and standing on the side of the road) for another 10 minutes talking about trivial things despite my constant reminding that I was (supposedly) on a run. Half an hour later, my dad calls me (probably at my mom's request) to make sure I wasn't hit by a car. It was followed shortly by another call from my mom. I lost it at that point

End result: My family has agreed on no more family trips. BUT, at least we're still talking (with maybe the exception of my mom and sister).
