This is such a basic question, it doesn't really belong in this thread, but I'll try not to waste too many other readers' time. "Elite" status is generally earned by actual flight miles, known colloquially as "BIS (butt-in-seat) miles" (counting the 500-mile minumum) as opposed to miles from credit cards, non-airline partners, etc.
- Silver: 25,000 miles in a calendar year
- Silver 50,000 miles in a calendar year
- Platinum 75,000 miles in a calendar year
